Merial is supporting
the effortsof veterinarians to improve equine health in their practices
by providing the important programs and materials described below.
Our goal is to help increase awareness and improve treatment of
equine gastric ulcers.

We began with
an ulcer awareness advertorial and journal advertisement placed
in key equine publications highlighting the prevalence of equine
gastric ulcer syndrome (EGUS). Both messages encouraged horse owners
to consult their veterinarian for more information.
Later, we ran
ads focused on raising awareness in the thoroughbred and quarterhorse
segments, continuing to encourage horse owners and trainers to consult
their veterinarian. These ads feature ringing endorsements by three
prominent equine experts. Dr.
Bill Bernard, Head of Internal Medicine at Rood & Riddle Hospital
in Kentucky, discusses gastric ulcers, and why he prescribes GASTROGARD
regularly.
In another ad,
Laura Lukas, trainer of champion quarter horses, tells of how one
of her horses suffering from gastric ulcers made a complete turnaround
after treatment with GASTROGARD. She was amazed the horse was back
in great health within weeks.
The last ad
features D. Wayne Lukas, trainer of 12 Triple Crown event champions
and 14 Breeders Cup winners, including the most recent winner Cat
Thief. Lukas explains healing equine ulcers with GASTROGARD may
mean a better shot at getting to the winner's circle.
Only GASTROGARD
has been proven to heal or improve 99% of horses with gastric ulcers,
even while the horses are still training.
